Headway Birmingham & Solihull are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated Admin Assistant / Brain Injury Keyworker to act as the person to support brain injured people with small day to day queries and tasks and provide administrative assistance for the Lifestyles Team at the request of the ABI Administrator. Based in Rubery with occasional cover at our hubs in Moseley and Sutton Coldfield as required.


Location: Birmingham & Solihull

Salary: £9.80 per hour, grade 3 pay spine 1 (unqualified) or £10.02 per hour (qualified)

Hours: 20 hours per week – Monday to Friday 10am-2pm

Duties include: -

  • A genuine interest in helping brain injured people and their families along with an understanding of the challenges of caring.

  • A good communicator at all levels with an open and friendly manner who is able to take client and families calls, helping them with problems, extra small tasks, advice and support.

  • Confident in dealing with incoming/outgoing telephone calls professionally; handling, diverting and taking messages as appropriate.

  • To be a good team player as part of the Lifestyles Team, working flexibly to support supervisors with client reviews, sending correspondence to clients and families and ensuring they respond.

  • Ability to update the Lifestyles team on all client matters and changes and ensure that all hand-written reports are accurate, clear and legible.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, being self-assured and able to manage multiple tasks and pressures in order to meet targets.

  • Self-motivated to work on own initiative within agreed guidelines.

  • Confident in the correct use and care of PCs, data entry onto Tagtronics system and updating spreadsheets. Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Educated to CGSE/O-Levels with a good standard of English and Maths with a Business Administration qualification/office or secretarial qualification.

  • Be able to drive out in the community to complete home visits with clients and support them with independent living skills, appointment visits, shopping and personal care.

Applicants will need to be a car driver, hold a valid driving licence with access to a car and have experience of working with vulnerable people with a disability, or be willing to gain a Diploma Level 2 or 3 in Adult Care. Experience of working with brain injury desirable.
