VACANCY: ONE TO ONE SUPPORT WORKER (Male Required)
Headway Birmingham & Solihull are a leading ABI – Acquired Brain Injury Charity.
We are looking for a confident, caring individual with an understanding of disability and a good sense of humour.
The ONE TO ONE SUPPORT WORKER (MALE) role is demanding but really rewarding, the focus of this role is to support specific allocated individuals to re-learn lost skills and improve on their journey back to gaining some independence.
Salary/Hours: Starting at £5,688 pa for a 10-hour week - dependent on qualification and experience (HBS Grade 3 pay spine 1) - Usually Monday and Friday, 9.30-2.30 each day – some flexibility required to meet the needs of the charity/services.
Main Base/Area: Based at our Hub in Wylde Green, however the candidate must be prepared to work at any Headway Birmingham & Solihull site (Moseley and Rubery) on pre-agreed occasions as required

Duties include: -

Being responsible for the wellbeing of your allocated client at all times and tend to their personal care needs, as and when required

Provide appropriate refreshments for your client, as and when required

Encourage the client to develop/progress/improve in terms of their personal needs, skills and goals

Assist the client in training sessions and activities at our Day Service and offsite.

Be willing to cover general support worker duties in the absence of your allocated client, this includes providing drinks, personal care, lunch, support in sessions to any other clients who need this at the hub and domestic duties

Be the main liaison between Headway and the client’s families/homes/carers.

Be willing to complete emergency first aid training and take responsibility for first aid needs of any clients in your care.

Complete paperwork and end of month statistics as required for the client’s records

Provide a listening ear to your allocated clients and build up a rapport with the client, and follow up any concerns appropriately
Experience and requirements: -
• NVQ2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent/willing to take within the first 2 years of being in role)
• Willing to undertake all required training for the role.
• Although driving is not a requirement of the role, we welcome anyone who is trained and willing to drive our minibus to assist with transporting clients to community activities (D1 required).
The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS, the cost of which will be met by the employer.
