Headway Birmingham & Solihull is a Brain Injury Charity.  Across our varying services and teams we support people with Brain Injury enabling them to improve their independence at home and in the community leading to an improved quality of life.  We also support families and carers.  If you feel you can make a difference to the lives of those affected we would love to hear from you either for volunteering or to apply to any of our vacant postitions.

Description

Headway Birmingham & Solihull are looking to recruit a CHARITY SHOP MANAGER to work Monday to Friday including alternate Saturdays (28 hours per week) at our Charity Shop based in Rubery, Birmingham.

Duties includes:

 

  • Take responsibility for the overall management of running the shop, managing stock sales, management of Assistant Managers and Volunteers.

  • Ensure adequate volunteer cover for all days.Seek to recruit volunteers as required and train new volunteers in all aspects of the work. Ensure cover is always in place in the event of A/L, illness etc

  • Maintain a motivated, united and happy workforce of staff and volunteers

  • Ensure all monitoring of documents and accounts are accurate e.g., income sheets, sales targets etc, and be competent using MS office and email / online browsing & ordering etc.

  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed accordingly, e.g., gift aid, volunteer inductions, Health & Safety by working in-line with HBS operation manuals.Be aware of Trading Standards regulations when selling items

  • Liaise with outside companies regarding purchases, technical issues – e.g., the till

  • Work to achieve and increase target sale outcomes for the shop, with the assistant manager and Head of Operations.

  • Ensure information about Headway’s services is given out with purchases and displayed effectively.Be proactive in promoting Headway Birmingham & Solihull services

  • Set up effective systems for receiving, sorting and labelling items for sale and rotate merchandise accordingly. 

  • Ensure adequate levels of stock are out on the shop floor, also in the back room in preparation and actively seek new stock.Ensure that the shop is clean, tidy, safe and secure at all times

  • Actively promote donations from customers and local / wider community

  • Provide occasional cover to our Charity Shop located in Great Barr. Full driving licence preferred.

 

The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS disclosure. Disclosure expense to be met by employer.

Headway Birmingham & Solihull are a leading Brain Injury Charity.  Our ABI Services Team provide support, services and guidance for people with an Acquired Brain Injury enabling them to improve their independence at home and in the community leading to an improved quality of life.

 

Description

Headway Birmingham & Solihull are looking to recruit an ACTIVITY LEADER to work Monday to Friday (35 hours per week) at our Headway House Centre in Moseley and who must also be prepared to work at any Headway site in Rubery and Sutton Coldfield as required.

Duties include:

 

  • Plan, prepare and run training sessions within the agreed programme to include areas of educational skills, IT, BI deficits, art & crafts, social skills, communication and attending college courses & social activities

  • Ensure training materials are reviewed / updated and new session plans introduced

  • It would be advantageous for the Skills Trainer to be able to drive any Headway vehicle, transporting clients across from either centre and driving them out into the community.

  • Have business insurance use to escort clients in own car as needed

  • Overseeing client’s safety, comfort and well-being at all times

  • Have responsibility for care staff and volunteers under your supervision.

Previous experience of working with people with disabilities and knowledge of brain injury is desirable.

LIFESTYLE  SUPPORT WORKER/PA

We are looking to recruit reliable, friendly, positive, caring and motivated individuals who have the drive and personality to make a real difference to our clients’ lives.   Your role may be supporting clients to attend appointments, social activities, shopping in the community or with day to day living skills in their homes.  Some personal care is required.

 

Applicants must be a car driver / owner and have experience of working with disabilities.  have, or be willing to gain a Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, or better still, brain injury experience.

 

We offer competitive salary, extensive induction, training and ongoing mentoring and support to our workers.

 

We will require an enhanced DBS disclosure, expense of which will be met by employer.

 

Job - Permanent: Various hours to suit from 16 to 35 per week.
