HOSPITAL BRAIN INJURY LINK WORKER
Salary: £9,243.78 per annum (Grade 5:13) dependent on age & experience
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Worked flexibly and may include some evenings / weekends according to service need

The Hospital Brain Injury Link Worker will work with Hospitals and other BI organisations to develop visiting / clinic opportunities on the appropriate hospital wards within the geographic area of Birmingham and Solihull. They will support and signpost brain injured people and their carers / families to the appropriate services for their needs.
Headway Birmingham & Solihull requires a reliable, trustworthy, self assured & self motivated person who has a good appreciation of the local framework of health and social services provision, with experience of dealing with people in traumatic and emotional situations and an understanding of the consequences of brain injury
To provide an assessment of the family and the brain injury needs, thus helping the families and brain injured people to move forward with their lives again.
Ensure that information about Headway’s services is communicated effectively to the brain injured people, their families / carers being treated at local hospitals or otherwise becoming known to us.
The successful candidate's Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional support as well as advice and guidance for brain injured people and their families / carers
Provide Level 1, 2 & 3 support and refer to HBS support services and Carers events
Work closely with Headway Birmingham & Solihull Case Workers.
Liaise with hospital staff / social services over hospital discharge and subsequent care plans
Develop relationships and networks to reach as many people as possible at the early stages of brain injury / caring
Visit Brain Injured people in their home, in hospital and at assessment centre visits
Travel across all areas of Birmingham and Solihull as required.Use of own vehicle, full driving licence is a prerequisite of this role.
Produce all required personal monitoring items accurately and on time.i.e., end of month, expenses, outputs and timesheets
The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS disclosure. Disclosure expense initially to be met by the candidate. Headway Birmingham & Solihull will reimburse the candidate on completion of their probationary period.

Headway Birmingham & Solihull is a Brain Injury Charity. Our Lifestyle Services Team provide one-to-one support, services and guidance for people with an Acquired Brain Injury enabling them to improve their independence at home and in the community leading to an improved quality of life.
We are looking to recruit reliable, friendly, positive, caring and motivated individuals who have the drive and personality to make a real difference to our clients’ lives. Your role may be supporting clients to attend appointments, social activities, shopping in the community or with day to day living skills in their homes. Some personal care is required.
Applicants must be a car driver / owner and have experience of working with disabilities. have, or be willing to gain a Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, or better still, brain injury experience.

One to One Support Worker

Headway Birmingham & Solihull is a Brain Injury Charity. Our Acquired Brain Injury Service is designed to give brain injured people the opportunity to re-learn lost skills as well as prevent any further deteriorating or isolation.
This can be done by learning coping strategies, modifying inappropriate behavior, acquiring new skills and interests, meeting with other brain injured people, understanding their brain injury, improving self confidence and accessing community activities.
Headway Birmingham & Solihull are looking to recruit a One To One Support Worker (NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care Standard) to work at our centre 11 hours per week. We require a confident and friendly individual to:
To collect a client from their home and transport to the hub in Wylde Green
Support the client on a 121 basis with activities at the Hub
To take the client home at the end of the day
MUST be a driver/own a car.
Previous experience of working with people with disabilities and knowledge of brain injury is desirable.

Minibus Driver/ Escort- ABI Services
Salary: £4,588.48pa, grade 3 pay spine 7
Hours: 10 per week Monday & Tuesday 9.45am-2.45pm
Location: Based at Headway House (Moseley) and must be prepared to work at any of our centres located in North and South Birmingham

The Driver / Escort will:
Assist our clients onto the minibus using the correct procedures and ensuring that client risks are observed when seating.
Take responsibility for ensuring that all clients are present for both outward and homeward journeys.
Plan journeys and preparation tasks to ensure that arrival/departure times meet activity and other centre requirements.
Be responsible for completing the vehicle check sheets and ensuring vehicle safety.
Drive the minibus safely and legally at all times/ensure the minibus remains safe, legal and tidy.
Stay with clients during the offsite activity and assist with supervision and client participation.
Candidates should be able to drive a minibus, possess a full clean driving licence with D1 Category and experience of working with people with a disability and have a friendly manner, a good sense of humour, neat and clean appearance and be able to exercise calmness, patience and tolerance.
